The infographics I design for Pew’s Pacific Marine Conservation team are more like complex, illustrated diagrams. In some cases, I’m provided somewhat dry, busy figures to work from, and the challenge is to make them engaging for a general audience. They are typically reproduced in brochures the team distributes at grassroots events. The turnaround is often quick, so I treat the elements as “stickers” that I can reuse later in other infographics. This creates consistent branding and saves a significant amount of time. Occasionally, animals and elements I illustrate for this team get repurposed in other campaigns and projects.
